The U-17 Hammerheads are at the Jefferson Cup this weekend and have already clinched a spot in the Final. On Thursday, the H’Heads beat the Baltimore Bays 5-1 with Chris Harmon scoring the first goal on a brilliant free kick from 22 yards out that curled over the wall and into the upper left corner. Wayne Maminski scored the 2nd goal just before the half on a low driven shot from the top of the box. Harmon played a spectacular 2nd half and created the 3rd and 4th goals with his superb one on one dribbling and passing ability. He set up Travis Cantrell for the 3rd goal and Brian Forgue for the 4th goal. The 5th FC DELCO goal was by Wayne Maminski who finished a bouncing loose ball head goal into the net from the six yard line.
On Friday, the H’heads bested Team Ohio 1-0 with FC DELCO scoring the game winner with 10 minutes remaining in the 2nd half on a goal created from great combination play by Chris Harmon and Danny DiLullo. Harmon found DiLullo with a nice thru pass on the right wing. DiLullo dribbled into the penalty box and found Travis Cantrell with a great cross at the PK spot who buried a one time volley past the diving GK.
On Saturday, the Hammerheads erupted for 5 goals in the first half and 4 goals in the second half as they bested LaFreniere Louisiana Gamblers 9-1. The team received balanced scoring in the game. The attack was explosive and creative. The defense was organized and tough. Goalscorers for the team were Chris Harmon, Kyle Soroka, Wayne Maminski (2), Georgie McFarland (2) Jordan Obrant, Danny DiLullo, and Alec Weiss.
The Hammerheads play EPA rival Spirit United Premier in the Jefferson Cup Final at 9:30AM.
