The FC DELCO Sting U16 Girls won the Elite Division of the Jefferson Cup in Richmond, VA. The Jeff Cup is a great regional event drawing together top regional teams to the event. Beating Calvert FC 3-1, Beadling Inferno 2-1, and Loudon Legends Red 3-0, the Sting earned to right to compete in the finals of the Elite Division versus Vista Fury. After completing a scrappy regulation play and finishing tied 1-1, the championship game went to OT but remained tied. The game was to be decided by Penalty Kicks. Tied in PK's 3-3 after 5 rounds, it went to a 6th round. There FC DELCO Goalkeeper Amanda McGowan made her second save, a kick save, to give the Sting a decided edge. Forward Lauren Wilson stepped up to finish the game. She did. Congratulations Sting.
