The U-17 Hammerhead boys lost a tough opener 4-2 to Everest SC (Ohio-N). The H’Heads scored first at the 36th minute on a head goal from Travis Cantrell off a long throw by Alec Weiss and flick on by Chris Hammond. Everest tied the game with 5 minutes remaining in the half on a 20 yard shot leaving the game knotted at the break. Less than a minute into the second stanza, Everest scored on a head ball goal off a long service. Everest scored again 10 minutes later when they pounced on a dropped ball by the keeper. FC DELCO got on back off a head goal by Wayne Maminski from a Kyle Soroka free kick however Everest scored a late goal to make it 4-2 after the H’Heads were pushed up looking for the equalizer. The boys play Diablo Valley SC next on Thursday who lost to Dallas, TX Andromeda in their first game.
