FC Delco Fury II made their 3rd consecutive trip to Nationals in Overland Park, Kansas July 23-25. The Fury's first match was against Woodbury SC out of MN on Friday morning, Delco lost 0-1 on a goal by Woodbury off of a deflection in the 78th minute. Game 2 Saturday morning was against the Eagles (CA) who were National Champions at U-15 in 2006. Delco was playing a very even match with the former champs when an inadvertent red card was given to Delco causing the Fury to play a man down for the remaining 60 minutes of the match. At the time of the card the game was tied 0-0. The Eagles added a goal in extra time of the first half to make it 0-1 Eagles. The Eagles added two late goals against Delco as the Fury searched for the equalizer. Game 3 Saturday saw the Fury II gain their first Nationals victory with a 2-1 win over the Defeeters (TX). Brooke Stokes tallied another big goal with a rebound off of a Leigh Gray shot that gave the Fury the lead. The Defeeters equalized a short time later to knot the game at 1-1. Just before half Meghan Collins provided the winning tally off of a direct kick to secure the victory. Congrats Fury !!
