Bio: | Mike Curry has been developing goalkeepers and coaches for over thirty years as a trainer and/or clinician for youth, Maryland and Pennsylvania ODP, college and club teams. He is the Director and Head Coach of The Goalkeeping Academy, a goalkeeping development program for keepers who train regularly throughout the year. In 2003, Mike was appointed the adidas ESP (Elite Soccer Program) goalkeeping coach and served in this role for three summers. In 2004, Mike joined the coaching staff of the FC DELCO Soccer Club to provide goalkeeping development activities for the club and other local soccer organizations in the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA). In addition to FC DELCO, Mike is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Goalkeeping Institute and NSCAA GK Coaching Staff. He has contributed to both the development of the NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma Courses and has served as an instructor for the NSCAA State, Regional and National GK Courses. Off the playing field, Mike is an active speaker and has given presentations to numerous soccer clubs and organizations in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast areas on various topics ranging from goalkeeping, sports nutrition, game tactics and preparing for college sports. Mike served on the Board of Directors as an At-Large Board member for the NSCAA responsible for business planning, technology and diversity initiatives. He served as Chairperson of the NSCAA Website Development Committee, a member of the NSCAA Governor's Council and Co-chairperson for the NSCAA Philadelphia Annual Convention Committee (2002, 2006). From 2002 - 2007, Mike was a Board member for The Starfinder Foundation which is dedicated to the development of urban youth through the game of soccer. Today, he continues to support diversity initiatives for the NSCAA as a Diversity Training instructor, member of the Membership Council and contributor to the Diversity Committee. In college, Mike was a goalkeeper for the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Baltimore (U of B) Varsity Soccer teams. At U of B, Mike led the conference in shutouts and was the recipient of the Junior Kelz Scholar Athlete Award. |
