The college recruitment process can be very daunting and confusing, and in my new advisory role, I hope to educate and guide families through the steps, ultimately helping them find the best fit for their important futures,” adds Brenner.
As the current U19 Boys ECNL and ECNL-Regional League Coach at FC DELCO, Brenner has already spent the last year working behind the scenes to guide club players on their pathway to college. In fact, for the 2021 season, Eastern celebrated its second-best start in school history at 7-1-2, earning a national ranking as high as 17th in the country along with multiple regional rankings throughout the season. The cultural shift was also evident in the classroom as well, where the Eastern team GPA went from 2.6 to 3.3, and 27 players made the All-Conference Academic team, which was a school record.
Prior, Brenner was the head coach at Lake Erie College (Division II) (Painseville, OH), where he led the Storm to back-to-back Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) postseason bids. Before his time at Lake Erie, Brenner served as an assistant coach at the University of Buffalo (Division I) (Buffalo, NY) where he developed the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Rookie of the Year and helped to place eight players on the All-MAC Academic Team. Brenner’s recruitment and development of several key players played a large role in laying the groundwork for repeat appearances in the Mac Tournament. Russell Cicerone, one of Brenner’s recruits was even drafted by Portland in the MLS Superdraft.
Brenner’s prior coaching experience includes Canisius College (Division I), and Buffalo State (Division III), which is also where he played and was a two-year team captain.
