FORMER UNION ACADEMY AND FC DELCO ACADEMY COACH RETURNS.  

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, - June 28, 2020  The region’s premier soccer club, FC DELCO, is excited to announce the appointment of Matt Poole to MLS Elite Academy Head Coach for its U17 and U19 teams. A former Academy coach for FC DELCO, the club is proud to have Matt back. 

“I’m excited to come back to such a storied club in the US Soccer landscape,” says Matt Poole. “I’d like to thank Rob Elliott and Jeff Zaun for the opportunity, and I can’t wait to start training,” adds Poole. 

Prior to rejoining FC DELCO, Coach Poole was the Head Coach and Age Group Coordinator for the U10 and U11 player pools for the Philadelphia Union Junior Academy. Coach Poole was also the Assistant Coach for the Philadelphia Union Junior Academy U12 age group, and under his direction, the team was the 2019 U12 Generation Adidas Cup Champion, a tournament featuring the top U12 Major League Soccer Academy teams. Coach Poole’s U12 team was also a finalist at the Iber Cup Invitational in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a tournament highlighting the top 12 teams from professional clubs in Brazil, and a third-place finisher at the Iber Cup in Porto Alegre, Brazil, which showcased the top 50 teams from professional clubs throughout Brazil. 

A USSF ‘A’ Licensed Coach and NSCAA Advanced Diploma recipient, Coach Poole is the former Assistant Head Coach for Widener University (Division III), and Co-Head Coach of the U9 and U10 age groups for FC DELCO. Coach Poole’s 2008 team won multiple international, national, and regional championships in small-sided soccer and futsal championships, as well as the 2017 U9 Iber Cup USA and Portugal Championships. Coach Poole was also the U17 CFC DELCO Development Academy Assistant Coach for the 18/19 season. 

Coach Poole is a graduate of The University of Virginia, where he was a four-year starter, team captain and ACC All-Tournament Team Member.
