Julian Fernandez New Boys ECNL Director

FC DELCO APPOINTS EPYSA DIRECTOR AND ACADEMY VETERAN TO DIRECTOR OF BOYS ECNL

       

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, - April 20, 2020, The region’s premier soccer club, FC DELCO, is excited to announce the appointment of Julian Fernandez to Boys ECNL Director in order to continue to deliver upon the club’s goal to become one of the best in the country.

“We are excited to announce Julian as our new ECNL Boys Director,” says Jeff Zaun, Technical Director of FC DELCO. “In his time as a Development Academy coach, he demonstrated an ability to identify, develop and advance players within our club. We feel that this skill set makes Julian the perfect fit to lead our ECNL boys program in an exciting and positive direction,” adds Zaun.

Fernandez has been the Director of Talent Identification and a US Development Academy coach with FC DELCO for the last two years and has served as a staff coach with the club since 2011. He is also currently serving as the Director of Competitions for the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA), where he coordinates state cup competitions and liaises with United States Youth Soccer (USYS) to plan and deliver regional and national cup competitions. 

With quite an extensive background in coaching and coaching education, Coach Fernandez has his ‘A’ License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), his “Grassroots Instructor” License, a “Premier” Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches Association (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America), and is also a Grassroots Course Instructor with USSF. In 2015, Fernandez was also a part of the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program, an intense year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select group of dedicated young coaches. 

Formerly, Coach Fernandez served as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach for Temple University, and the head men’s soccer coach for Chestnut Hill College. He was also a Staff Coach for EPYSA’s ODP program. 

Fernandez played at Chestnut Hill College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He has his Master of Arts in Higher Education from Messiah College.
